Missed Call Text Generator for Plumbers

What it does

Our missed call text message generator, preset for plumbing companies. It writes first texts that sort leaks from routine work (“Is water leaking right now?”), starts with the gas-smell safety line switched on, and counts characters and SMS segments as you edit. Add your company name, pick a tone, and copy the version that fits in one segment.

Edit any message: the counter updates as you type. Replace anything in [brackets] before you use it.

Paste a text you already use to see its encoding and segment count.

Counts follow the standard SMS rules (GSM-7: 160 characters, or 153 per segment when split; UCS-2: 70, or 67 per segment). Some providers convert characters automatically or use slightly different limits, so check the segment count in your own platform before you go live. Peace Call doesn’t store or send anything you type.

Why plumbing texts ask about leaks first

The most expensive missed call for a plumber is the one where water is still running. Asking “Is water leaking right now?” in the first text lets an active leak jump the queue, while a reply like “no, just a slow drain” tells you the caller can wait for a callback. The shorter form, “Leak, clog, or a quote?”, does the same job when you need room for a booking link or safety line.

The safety line (“Smell gas? Leave and call 911 or your gas utility.”) is on by default here because plumbers who work on gas water heaters and lines do get those calls. It’s a short starting point, not official guidance. Have the owner approve it and match it to your local gas utility’s instructions. If you don’t touch gas, switch it off to save characters.

Which tone and options fit a plumbing shop?

Friendly works for most residential plumbers. Professional suits commercial accounts and property managers, who often text from a work phone. Use the after-hours version on the number customers call at night, with your real opening time, and add a booking link only if your scheduling tool can take routine jobs like fixture swaps or drain cleaning without a call.

What happens after the customer replies

The first text only starts the conversation. Decide in advance who answers replies, how fast, and what counts as urgent. Our missed call text back scripts for plumbers include reply templates for leaks, no water, sewer backups, and quotes, and the plumbing after-hours answering script covers the same triage for calls someone does answer. To see whether text-back is worth the cost for your shop, run the numbers in the missed call calculator for plumbers.

Before you go live in the US, register your number for A2P 10DLC, keep the opt-out wording, and test by calling your own number from a mobile phone.

    FAQ

What should a plumber’s missed call text say?

Name your company, say you missed the call, and ask one sorting question such as “Is water leaking right now?” Keep it to one SMS segment and add opt-out wording.

Should every plumbing text include a gas safety line?

Only if you handle gas work or get gas-smell calls. It costs about 50 characters, so leave it out if it doesn’t apply, and get the owner to approve the wording if you use it.

Can I add a booking link for plumbing jobs?

Yes. Turn on the booking link option and use a link on your own domain. Leak and emergency callers still need a fast human reply, so don’t rely on the link alone.

Why does the counter say 2 segments with my business name?

Long names, links, or a safety line can push a text past 160 characters. Switch to the Short tone, drop the booking link, or use the shorter sorting question.
