GoHighLevel Free Trial (2026): What's Included, What Can Still Cost Money, and a 14-Day Test Plan

Short answer

HighLevel's pricing page advertises a 14-day free trial on its Starter ($97/month), Unlimited ($297/month), and Agency Pro ($497/month) plans. The subscription is free during the trial, but HighLevel says billing starts automatically when the trial ends unless you cancel, and usage-based fees such as phone numbers, texts, A2P registration, and AI minutes can apply during the trial. Pick one narrow job to test (for example, missed-call text-back plus an after-hours Voice AI agent), submit A2P registration early, check your wallet charges, and decide before day 14.

How this guide was made: Our guides are researched and drafted with the help of AI tools, then fact-checked against the linked sources before publishing. How we research.

A free trial only helps if you know what you're testing and what can still show up on your card. HighLevel (often called GoHighLevel or GHL) is a big platform: CRM, phone system, texting, workflows, calendars, and AI agents in one account. Fourteen days goes fast if you try to learn all of it.

This guide covers what HighLevel's trial includes, which charges can still apply during it, how to cancel, and a day-by-day plan for a home-service business or agency that mainly wants to test missed-call text-back and Voice AI. Everything below comes from HighLevel's public pricing page and help center, checked October 6, 2026. We haven't run a client trial ourselves, so this is a planning guide, not a report of results.

How long is the GoHighLevel free trial?

HighLevel's pricing page advertises a 14-day free trial ("Experience it for 14 Days FREE") on each of its three self-serve plans. You'll also find third-party sites advertising longer trials through partner links. Peace Call doesn't offer a special trial or discount. Whichever link you use, check the trial length and terms shown on the checkout page before you enter payment details.

What do you get during the trial?

You get the plan you choose. The pricing page lists the same core features on all three plans, including Voice AI, Conversation AI, inbound and outbound calling, email and SMS marketing, workflow automation, booking calendars, CRM and pipelines, and the mobile app. The plans differ mainly in how many sub-accounts (client or business accounts) you can run and whether you can rebill usage:

Plan Monthly Annual Key differences (per HighLevel's pricing page)
Starter $97 $970/year 3 sub-accounts, unlimited contacts and users
Unlimited $297 $2,970/year Unlimited sub-accounts, rebill phone and email at cost, basic API access
Agency Pro $497 $4,970/year SaaS mode, rebill phone and email with markup, advanced API access

Which plan should you trial? If you're one HVAC, plumbing, or other service business, Starter's three sub-accounts are more than enough to test text-back and Voice AI. Agencies planning to resell should look at Unlimited or Agency Pro. HighLevel's AI pricing docs say you need the $497/month plan to rebill AI Employee usage to clients (AI Product Pricing). HighLevel says upgrades are charged a prorated amount right away, so starting small and upgrading later is a normal path (Billing questions for agencies).

What can still cost money during a free trial?

Usage. The pricing page marks Voice AI, Conversation AI, SMS, and calling as "usage based charges apply," and its disclaimer says billing begins automatically at the end of any free trial unless canceled and that usage-based fees for telecommunications or third-party services may apply during the trial.

Usage is paid from an Agency Wallet. HighLevel loads credit by charging your card on file, then refills the wallet automatically when the balance drops below your minimum (HighLevel Pricing Guide). Its phone pricing FAQ notes you might see a charge, such as $20, before you've made a single call, because the wallet auto-recharged (Phone System Pricing & Billing Guide).

The usage charges most likely to come up in a text-back and Voice AI test (US rates, October 2026):

Item HighLevel's listed rate
Local phone number $1.15/month
SMS, per segment (in or out) $0.00747 + carrier fee (about $0.0025 to $0.0100)
Inbound calls about $0.01165/min, billed in full minutes
A2P 10DLC registration (Low Volume) $22.50 one-time + $1.50 to $10.50/month per campaign
Voice AI, pay-per-use $0.045/min voice engine + text-to-speech (from $0.015/min) + LLM tokens
AI Employee plans (optional) Growth $50/month or Unlimited $97/month per sub-account

Two things to watch. First, HighLevel says submitting an A2P campaign starts both the one-time registration fee and the monthly campaign fee, regardless of the review outcome. To stop the monthly fee, you delete the campaign. Second, the voice you choose matters: ElevenLabs V3 is listed at $0.170/min for text-to-speech, more than ten times the cheapest options (AI Product Pricing).

Illustration (our arithmetic, not a quote): one local number ($1.15), Low Volume A2P registration ($22.50 plus a first monthly campaign fee of $1.50 to $10.50), about 100 minutes of Voice AI test calls on pay-per-use with a $0.015/min voice (100 × $0.06 = $6.00, plus tokens), the inbound phone minutes for those calls (about $1.17), and a few dozen test texts (well under $1). That comes to roughly $33 to $42 plus tokens for a focused trial, with the subscription itself still free. Your wallet may charge in larger recharge amounts than this.

How should you use the 14 days? (a test plan for service businesses)

Test one narrow job: catching missed calls and answering after-hours calls for one business. Here's a schedule that front-loads the slow parts.

Days 1 to 2: account basics. Create one sub-account for the business, set its time zone and business hours, and buy one local number (How to purchase a phone number). Submit A2P 10DLC registration now. Review isn't instant, and texting from a local number depends on it.

Days 2 to 4: missed-call text-back. Turn on the built-in feature under Settings → Phone System → Voice → Voicemail & Missed Call Text Back, set the ring timeout (HighLevel suggests 10 to 20 seconds), and write a one-segment message (HighLevel: Missed Call Text Back). Our missed call text back guide has 21 templates, and plumbers can use the plumbing-specific scripts.

Days 4 to 9: one Voice AI agent. Build a single after-hours intake agent under AI Agents → Voice AI. Give it a short knowledge base (hours, service area, approved fees) and only three actions: booking, call transfer to on-call, and a summary text. Set Working Hours to evenings and weekends, or deploy it with Use as Backup so staff answer first. Test in the browser with Web Call, then on a real phone, because transfers only work in phone-call tests (How to Create Voice AI Agents). Our HVAC and plumbing AI receptionist guide has a prompt and a test list.

Days 10 to 12: check the real cost. Open the wallet transactions (Agency View → Settings → Billing → Wallet & Transactions) and the agency-level AI usage view, and work out your cost per test call. Compare pay-per-use with AI Employee Growth or Unlimited using our Growth vs Unlimited break-even guide.

Day 13: decide. Keep it, downgrade, or cancel. Don't leave it to the last evening.

How do you cancel the GoHighLevel trial?

Cancel from the billing screen before the trial ends. HighLevel's billing help article lists these steps:

  1. Go to Agency Settings → Billing.
  2. Click Want to modify/cancel your subscription?
  3. Click Show More in the pop-up, then Cancel Plan.
  4. Pick a reason, click Next, and review the data-loss warning.
  5. Click I am sure I want to cancel, write the feedback (at least 30 words), and click Submit.

A few details from the same article. If you signed up through another agency rather than directly with HighLevel, that agency has to cancel it. HighLevel can't. Its FAQ says data is deleted 90 days after cancellation and mentions a $27/month pause plan as an alternative, even though a note higher up the same page says agency accounts can't be paused. Ask HighLevel support which applies to your account before relying on either. Also remember that phone numbers and A2P campaigns carry their own monthly fees, so release or delete what you won't use.

Who should skip the trial (for now)?

The trial is a poor fit if you don't have a few hours a week to configure and test. HighLevel's own disclaimer says its AI features "require setup, configuration, and ongoing human oversight." It's also a poor fit if you handle health information and aren't ready for the $297/month HIPAA add-on, or if you just want a receptionist with a live human backup. In that last case, compare options in our AI receptionist vs answering service vs voicemail guide first. For a fuller look at the AI side, read our GoHighLevel Voice AI review.

FAQ

Is the GoHighLevel free trial really free? The subscription is free for the trial period HighLevel shows at checkout (14 days on the pricing page). Usage such as phone numbers, texts, A2P registration, and AI minutes can still be charged during the trial, according to HighLevel's pricing disclaimer.

Will I be charged automatically when the trial ends? Yes, unless you cancel. HighLevel's pricing page says billing begins automatically at the end of any free trial unless it's canceled.

Can I test Voice AI during the trial? Voice AI is listed as a core feature on all plans, with usage-based charges. You can test agents in the browser with Web Call, which doesn't need a phone number, but call transfers only work in real phone-call tests.

Does Voice AI cost extra during the trial? On pay-per-use, HighLevel lists $0.045 per minute for the voice engine plus a text-to-speech rate (from $0.015 per minute) plus LLM tokens. Phone charges apply separately. AI Employee Growth ($50/month) and Unlimited ($97/month) are optional per-sub-account plans.

Do I need A2P registration to test missed-call text-back? To send texts from a US local number, yes. HighLevel's docs say a text-back can fail if no number in the account is eligible to send SMS. Registration fees start when you submit the campaign, whatever the outcome.

Can I switch plans after the trial? Yes. HighLevel's pricing FAQ says you can upgrade or downgrade, and its billing article says upgrades are charged a prorated amount immediately.
