GoHighLevel vs. Podium for Local Service Businesses (2026): Pricing, Missed-Call Text-Back, and Who Each Fits

Short answer

Podium is a texting, reviews and payments inbox for local businesses sold through a sales call. As of October 11, 2026 its own pricing page lists no prices and says to talk to sales; third-party trackers reported Core at $399 a month and Pro at $599 a month per location before the numbers were removed, with phone seats and messaging fees on top. HighLevel publishes its prices ($97, $297 and $497 a month, plus usage) and has a native missed call text back setting, a CRM, workflows and optional Voice AI. Podium is the more finished review-and-inbox product with human onboarding. HighLevel is cheaper to start and far more configurable, but you build more yourself.

Podium and HighLevel (GoHighLevel) both promise the same outcome for a local business: turn calls, texts, web chats and reviews into booked jobs. They get there in very different ways. Podium sells a finished product through a sales team. HighLevel sells a platform you configure yourself, with published prices.

This guide compares them on price, missed-call handling, reviews, AI, and how you buy, using each company's own pages where they exist. Anything we could only find on third-party sites is labeled as such. Facts checked October 11, 2026.

Peace Call is a HighLevel affiliate, so weigh our opinion accordingly. We point out where Podium is the better fit, because for some businesses it is.

What is the difference between GoHighLevel and Podium?

Podium is a customer-communication platform for local businesses. Its own site lists reviews, phones, lead consolidation, website chat, a shared inbox, payments, text marketing, an "AI employee" and automations as its core features (Podium pricing page).

HighLevel is a CRM and marketing platform with a built-in phone system, texting, email, calendars, workflows and Voice AI. It also serves agencies that run many client accounts.

How much does Podium cost?

Podium's own pricing page no longer shows a number. It says plans are designed to fit your business and to talk to the sales team. A price tracker recorded that Core ($399 a month) and Pro ($599 a month) were visible in October 2025 and removed by January 2026 (PricingSaaS Pulse).

Third-party guides written since then still quote those figures, so treat them as a starting reference, not a quote:

Item Reported price Source type
Core plan $399 per month, per location Third-party price guides
Pro plan $599 per month, per location Third-party price guides
Signature Custom pricing Third-party price guides
Podium Phones $30 per user per month for 1–4 users, $25 at 5 or more Third-party price guide
10DLC fee About $5 per month per location Third-party price guide
Carrier-verified messaging $15 per month on Core; included on Pro Third-party price guide

Reported by Ernest and Hosted Reviews. One of them puts a single-location Core setup, without phones, at about $419 a month. Ask Podium for a written quote that lists seats, numbers, messaging fees, contract length and cancellation terms before you decide.

How much does HighLevel cost?

HighLevel's published plans are Starter at $97 a month ($970 a year), Unlimited at $297, and Agency Pro at $497, with unlimited contacts and users. Usage is billed on top: for example a local number is $1.15 a month and a text segment is $0.00747 plus carrier fees (Phone System Pricing). For a full breakdown, see our GoHighLevel pricing guide.

Same-size comparison for one location, one small team, from the numbers above (illustrations, not quotes; taxes and AI usage excluded):

Setup How we calculated it Approx. per month
HighLevel Starter, text-back and a phone number $97 + $1.15 + about a penny per text about $100
HighLevel Starter, with after-hours Voice AI Our pricing-guide example about $122–$133
Podium Core, single location, no phones $399 + about $20 in fees (third-party estimate) about $419
Podium Core with 3 phone seats $419 + 3 × $30 about $509

The gap is large, but it is not the whole story: Podium's price includes onboarding and a team to call, and HighLevel's low price assumes you will do more of the setup yourself.

Which handles missed calls better?

Both can text a caller back after a missed call. The difference is how much you control.

  • HighLevel: a built-in Missed Call Text Back setting plus a workflow route with the Call Details trigger, so you can add waits, tags, internal alerts and follow-up steps. Steps are in our missed call text back guide and in HighLevel's help article.
  • Podium: text-back sits inside its Phones and lead-conversion product. Podium's site highlights that customers can text with callers from the inbox. Its public page gives no configuration details, so ask for a demo that shows a missed call turning into a booked job.

Either way, US business texting needs carrier registration. See our A2P 10DLC registration walkthrough and the free A2P checker.

Reviews, payments and AI: where Podium is stronger

  • Review requests are Podium's headline feature. Collecting Google reviews by text is a built-in, polished flow. HighLevel can do it with its reputation tools and workflows, but you set it up.
  • Payments and a shared inbox are packaged for non-technical owners.
  • Human onboarding: Podium states that step-by-step onboarding, phone and chat support, and customer success managers come with every plan.

HighLevel is stronger when you want custom pipelines, your own automations, Voice AI that answers and books (how it works), many locations or clients under one login, or lower fixed cost. Try our free Voice AI prompt builder to see what an after-hours agent needs.

What about contracts and cancellation?

Podium doesn't publish contract terms. Third-party reviewers say terms are set in the sales conversation and some customers report longer commitments; we couldn't verify this from Podium's own site. Ask for term length, renewal and cancellation rules in writing.

HighLevel's pricing page advertises a 14-day free trial, and billing starts automatically when it ends unless you cancel; usage fees such as numbers, texts and A2P registration can apply during the trial. Details are in our free trial guide.

Which should you choose?

  • Choose Podium if you want a vendor to set it up, your main goal is more Google reviews and a clean text inbox, and a roughly $400+ monthly budget per location is fine.
  • Choose HighLevel if you want published prices, lower fixed cost, custom automations or Voice AI, or you manage several locations or clients, and you'll invest time in setup (or hire it out).
  • Use neither yet if you miss only a handful of calls a month. A good voicemail greeting and an after-hours script may do.

FAQ

Is Podium cheaper than GoHighLevel? Not on the numbers available. HighLevel's published plans start at $97 a month plus usage. Podium lists no price on its own site now, and third-party guides report $399 a month for Core per location, with phone seats and fees extra.

Does Podium publish its prices? Not as of October 11, 2026. Its pricing page directs you to its sales team. A price tracker shows prices were removed between October 2025 and January 2026.

Does GoHighLevel have missed call text back? Yes. It is a built-in setting on the phone system, and you can also build it as a workflow with the Call Details trigger.

Can GoHighLevel replace Podium? For many businesses, yes: texting, a shared inbox, review requests, payments and automations can all be built. It takes more setup than Podium's ready-made product.

Does either need A2P 10DLC registration? Both send US business texts from local numbers, so carrier registration applies. Podium's third-party price guides mention a 10DLC fee. HighLevel's process is in Trust Center.
